Sports has been an integral part of my life, like it is for countless individuals in our country. I attended a school that did not possess a cricket ground of its own; I had to therefore access facilities reserved only for those privileged enough to attend schools that had their own grounds.
The intense desire and passion for sports has driven me to contribute my energy towards the development of sports. In particular, this drive has resulted in the creation of the internationally acclaimed Dr. D. Y. Patil Stadium
“This certainly is one of the best cricket stadiums in the world.”
- S. M. Gavaskar, Hindustan Times, March 8, 2009
"Fantastic stadium! Would love to come & play here. Want to congratulate the Patil family for their mega effort in building this stadium.”
- Sachin Tendulkar
"Just Brilliant, I have to rate this right up there as one of, if not the best stadiums in India and is in par with most around the world. The surface here and that crowd was amazing, just the noise that they created ."
- Adam Gilchrist
“My heartiest congratulations to Vijay Patil and all those who are connected with the D. Y. Patil institutions for building one of the finest cricket stadiums in India. I am glad that the local players of Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas will get to use the excellent facilities at the ground.” -Warm regards, Dilip Vengsarkar
"This is a great example of what vision, hard work, drive and ambition can achieve. A truly remarkable facility and something that I hope will be the breeding ground of future champions.
A very pleasant visit and hope to come back to play one day!"
- Rahul Dravid
